CELEBRATION OF FAMILY: LETTERS OF ANDREW MURRAY TO HIS CHILDREN

To commemorate the 192nd birthday of Dr Andrew Murray (May 9th 2020), we developed the short series Celebration of Family: Letters of Andrew Murray to his children.
EPISODE 2: Fatherhood
Andrew and Emma had firsthand experience of the loss of children. Of the eleven children born to them, only eight reached maturity; two died in their infancy and Fanny when she was age two and a half.
Fanny was “a particular beautiful little girl of a very sweet disposition … consecrated to mission work and had wound herself very closely round her father’s heart …”
Andrew reaches out to his two eldest children, Emmie and Mary – in the Netherlands at the time:
“… Darling lamb, we shall see her again, and, as Mama said, we cannot refuse her to Jesus.”
